Proof of a Corporate Filing Resources

The Lobbying Bureau only accepts a "proof of a corporate filing" to verify an entity's legal name during the enrollment process. Please review the Announcement Regarding Changes in the Enrollment Procedure of November 3, 2011 for a complete description of a proof of a corporate filing. Examples of a proof of corporate filing include the print out from the department of state website of the state in which the entity was incorporated (or equivalent government agency from a foreign jurisdiction). Such print out may be found at the following websites:

Department of Investigation

Local Law 15 of 2006 dictates that any "willful" violation of the Lobbying Law be referred to the Department of Investigation (DOI) for further inquiry. Visit the Lobby Law Unit of DOI.

Conflict of Interest Board

Local Law 16 of 2006 prohibits lobbyists from making gifts to public servants. This law is enforced by the Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB). Information pertaining to this law can be found on COIB's website.

Campaign Finance Board

Local Law 17 of 2006 provides that campaign contributions of registered lobbyists are ineligible for taxpayer-financed public matching funds. This law is enforced by the Campaign Finance Board (CFB). Information pertaining to this law can be found on the CFB's website.

The Lobbying Commission

Local Law 15 of 2006 mandates that the Mayor and the City Council shall jointly appoint a commission to review and evaluate the activities and performance of the City Clerk in implementing the Lobbying Law. The Commission, appointed in 2011, is charged with recommending changes to strengthen the administration and enforcement of the Lobbying Law. Visit the Lobby Commission website.
